Keeping the rain off

Today is another one of those really wet days with torrential rain so I can't see myself going far today if at all however if you were at say Camp and it was the season it can rain a bit not least if you are in the Lake District from personal experience there is something lightweight that can help.

You have a cover over garment called a Poncho that will protect you top and upper part of your shorts or trousers which is waterproof it is easy to put on and is available for Beavers, Scouts and as pictured here Cubs from scoutshops.

A game of two halves

Today I very much suspect will be a day of two halves, one where I do get out earlier on this morning and the other one you'd end up looking rather like a drowned rat as the period of very warm weather drops off with heavy rain and thunder.

Cycling aided by poor balence and a weak left side from my physical disabilities wasn't something I could take part in as much as I kept close to mates who did in most conditions.

Keeping dry

It's actual quite appropriate today to post this picture showing a massive waterproof padded jacket given it is raining really hard at the moment and I had a near miss while scouting first thing when the heavens opened needing me to run like the clappers to get into somewhere dry as I felt the rain landing on my legs.

Like the postal workers here I much prefer to be outdoors in short trousers because it never soaks as much into them, landing on me and so a quick rub down with a towel and a hot drink does the trick.

That is much better in my opinion than carrying damp or soggy cloth next to your skin for a long time as rain sooner evaporates from your skin than cloth although for extreme uses, waterproof trousers and the likes have their uses.
