The neighbours

Well in the early hours of the day we did get out this weekend before it got unbearable with extreme heat and humidity  on a walk across the area armed with liquids where in realatively undeveloped batch between the edges of two settlements this horse was out grazing.

The previous day it was in a different field so I was surprised to see it and its mate out but there was a bit more shade to be had there.

A grazing we will go...

It is most definately Spring, so while I was out I spotted near a stream these four grazing peacefully while trying to find somewhere to steady the camera  given I was using the telephoto section on its zoom lens given the area was fenced off.

Also out were these two fine horses, grazing contentedly on a sunny morning.

Spending time with the horses

It wasn't the best of weather at the weekend but we did manage to get out and see some different sights about in that cross over period between late Summer and Early Autumn.

One thing about this area is there are bits of smallholdings dotted about often let on a short term basis to people so you get a variety of animals in grazing.

This time it was the horses, which had been visiting around this time certainly from the mid 1990's as I had to rescue my camera bag which I used with the Minolta XD7 that one horse had grabbed between its teeth and placed inside the grounds!

This one is definitely a male as I was able to see the evidence as it were.

It was a fairly cool morning requiring a padded jacket over my t shirt and shorts so it wasn't so surprising they were engaged very much with chewing rather than venturing toward me.

It was worth balancing by the hedgerow to just see them enjoying themselves while I took in some fresh air and exercise.

White horses

Horses were a passion I shared with my older brother who I helped with things such as some of his scouting activities as much as he helped me with things.

It's not so surprising then that I may go around parts here where I know I can find horses just to spend time with them and their owners, sometimes taking pictures, learning more about both owner and the breeds.

It's important when you do to respect the horses diets if you do feed them which I generally don't without permission, indeed on farm I know does put a prominent but polite not to feed the horses which if they are being treated for certain conditions may be very important.

If, as happened to me several years ago somehow a horse managed to grab and pull my camera bag into his field, to contact and work with the landowner rather than risk a confrontation with a horse.

The impact from a horses hooves is very severe.
