Magpies

 

While not my favourite bird species by a long shot but Eurasian Magpies were spotted yesterday around here together with a good number of bumble bees and faux wasp species going in trees and investigating hedge rows.

The nesting season is very much upon us so crows and magpies have been spotted going back and forth from their nests both in woodland and in other settings such as local recreation areas between some of the nondescipt twentieth century developments.

Just watching such things isn't just educational but also highly relaxing.
 

Summat to Crow about!

 Weather as one might expect is starting to change but while I was out I was tasting the smaller compact camera out in the park not being used to having a extremely wide focal range with image stabilizing when I came by this Crow.

I'm not to be honest much for Crows I have to say, not that I wish them ill you understand but they just don't do much for me but here was one I was able to get.

The only negative of the camera is as with most of its ilk the viewing screen is very hard to see in sunny or otherwise contrast external conditions.

Out in the wood

 

To say it has been pretty cold is something of an understatement being very well wrapped up  from top to bottom but let it be said it takes a lot to stop me being out exploring even facing down bad experiences from the past.

On a very frosty and icy Thursday morning I ventured out taking my time walking given I'm not very steady on my feet coming out of one near miss losing my balance to get to the woods.

That was because I could hear a lot of birdsong from all over and while making my way there saw a good number of birds about.

I saw these two pigeons and steadying myself and the camera, I took this picture on a very sunny morning.
